THE MOVEMENT

The Soundtrack for

music and talk for everyday nonviolence

Why I started Unite for Nonviolence FM

I’ve loved music all my life. But I've come to notice how many of the songs I grew up with have violent themes, even "love songs". The message may be subtle and unintentional but it's there. I started this station for people who want something different: music about peace, kindness, and healthy relationships. It doesn't have to be trite or boring!

What you'll hear

Songs with a message of nonviolence. The message may be out in front or behind the scenes. All genres and periods. Some are straight "protest" songs. Others carry a simple message of peace, justice and love. I include well known tracks and hidden gems. Tune in; you'll quickly get the vibe.

The playlist

It's growing all the time. Here are just a few of the artists I program:

Bob Dylan-Bob Marley-Phil Ochs-Pete Seeger-Joan Collins-Odetta-Barry McGuire-Alicia Keyes-Canned Heat-Buffy Sainte-Marie-The Steve Miller Band...and on and on.

Note - Some people who have experienced violence may later be triggered by certain sights, sounds, or situations that remind them of the trauma and cause intense unpleasant reactions. There are some songs that are potentially triggering. I do my best to recognize them and exclude them from my playlist. IF YOU FEEL TRIGGERED, STOP LISTENING IMMEDIATELY.

About THE MOVEMENT

Are the songs properly licensed?

Yes. Live365 uses part of my fee to pay the appropriate royalties. Cheating artists would be a form of economic violence!
